A Message from Principal Mayo

Good Afternoon AVR Families,

This week, CVR students and staff will wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Together, we honor survivors, remember those we have lost, and stand in support of individuals and families currently facing breast cancer.

As we prepare our students to become Life Ready, we must also emphasize the importance of caring for their mental and physical health. Wearing pink allows us to model empathy and demonstrate what it means to show up as a compassionate community. At CVR, we care about those affected by breast cancer and recognize the importance of awareness, education, early detection, and community support.

Parents and families, please take a few moments to review the important information and upcoming events included in this week’s newsletter. Thank you for your continued partnership, and we wish everyone a healthy and productive week!

With appreciation,
Principal Mayo

CVR invites our parents, family members, friends, and community partners to participate in 100 Women Day on Friday, November 6, from 8:15–11:00 a.m.
This special event will surround our young women with positive role models who can offer encouragement, guidance, and inspiration as they consider the possibilities for their futures. We hope you will join us and help spread the word to other women who would like to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our students.

Smart ID Scanning on School Buses
Division expectations require students to carry their Smart ID cards and use them daily. The student scanning process allows our department to accurately track when and where students board and exit school buses, providing an additional layer of safety and accountability for students and families.

Student ID Badge Reminder
For safety and security, all students are required to wear their school-issued identification badge in a clearly visible location while on school property. Please help your student remember to bring and wear their ID badge every day.
If your student has lost or damaged their badge, please have them notify a staff member or administrator as soon as possible so a replacement can be arranged. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure campus.

Digital Citizenship
This week, we encourage families to “Find Balance.” This means instead of counting daily screen-time minutes, aim for a balance throughout the week. Get your family to help plan a week that includes activities they have to do (schoolwork, chores, reading, family time) and activities they like to do (Internet time, TV time, family time, gaming, etc.). Decide on limits and behavior using the Common-Sense Media Family Media Agreement. This agreement can bring an awareness to the value of balance in our daily lives.
